Anyone using Ink Republic CIS & R1800/R800 in the UK?

Anyone using Ink Republic CIS & R1800/R800 in the UK?

Hi everyone, I am thinking of getting myself a CIS for my new R1800. Having had a good old look on these fora it seems like I\'d be best off going for the Ink Republic one. Does anyone know if it\'s available in the UK - or will I just have to buy one directly from them?

Also, I see that lots of people with a CIS are using \'MIS\' inks - anyone got a URL for them, or better still a UK ink supplier?

Part of my reason for going CIS is to cut the cost per print - and I don\'t really want to \'burn\' a shed load of cash on shipping fees and duties if I can avoid it.

Cheers,
Joe.

Hi Joe
I just purchased a CIS system for my 2100 from Everest Inks at a very reasonable price, because they are local I visited their shop. So far I am very pleased. His web site is worth a visit and I know he has just obtained inks for the 1800. The kit is in my humble opinion very well made. You can by the system empty and fill with your own inks but I\'m glad I purchased them ready filled.:-

You can try InkRepublic\'s R1800 CIS.

and InkSupply\'s ink:

It\'s been proved that InkRepublic has the best performance and reliable system. I love it too. Price is reasonable and cheaper than mediastreet, b&h, lyson.

I have my C86 system from them, I can also reuse the parts on R1800.

Thanks Watty - I did have a look at their system on Ebay, but I wasn\'t too impressed by the look of their cartridges with tubes. I will have a look at their website\'s forums to see if they work well despite their looks!

I will probably keep them in mind as a potential ink supplier as well.

Cheers, Joe.

Thanks mogorido - I have already had a look at InkRepublic\'s site - and
searched these forums - it seems to have many fans!

As does InkSupply\'s ink - the only problem is that I live in the UK and I would rather not pay $30 shipping (guess) and $20 customs/handling charges (on top of the 17.5% extra sales tax we always have to pay in the UK) every time I fill up with ink. I don\'t suppose you know if they have a UK or European office?

Cheers,
Joe.

I recently heard that these people have started to stock InkRepublic\'s system.

You\'ll have to \'phone them for confirmation, as there is little detail on their website, and I haven\'t had time to follow up the lead.

"Life time Guaranteed if you use our ink. Save upto 80% on printing, See them working."

pretty bold statement

Yes.

That\'s why I\'ve not found a round tuit to make further enquiries, particularly as they are not bothered about updating their website. However, if it is, indeed, the InkRepublic system, they can\'t be all that bad.

Also, I worry about reliable, quality, bulk ink supplies, in the UK, for the R800/R1800.

I\'m sticking with tiddly OEM ink cartridges, until I know better.

Dreadful site, isn\'t it?

However, I heard that it is the InkRepublic system that they sell.

This is not confirmed — I\'ve emailed them, and will let you know if I receive a reply. In the meantime, you could always telephone them (I can\'t, as I\'ve mislaid my voice).

I have just received a reply from those people in Plymouth, in which they state that they have just ben appointed UK distributor for InkRepublic systems, and apologise for the lack of details on their website.

just walked in to their shop.

the young lad assured me that it is ink republic stuff, including the ink. however the packaging gives only a small clue as to the origin of the product.
I will try to describe what i saw, and maybe someone from the US can hint as to whether the stuff is genuine.

OUTER Packaging.
Appears to be an anti static bag usually used for electronic components ( may just be a printed pattern )

One pair of latex gloves.

A large sponge?, with gold backing.

8 gartridge replacements with tubes and clips.

A small bottle (unsure whether there were more, was being glared at by the assistant)

Hideous pink sticker on the outside with ROYAL 800 written on it.

the only hint as to origin was another pink sticker stating something about infringement of US copyright law.

hope this helps, and i will go back if someone can tell me what to look for as a definate identifier.

Two last notes: the dampers did not look to be fantastically made for such an expensive product. Lots of flashing, and a poorly made seal area.

The ink supplied is 100ml for the R800, its only 50ml from IR (make your own conclusions from that)

Must admit it does look similar to the supplied components on the IR website, didn\'t see the chipset though.

Just found a good photo of what IR supply and i must say it all looks very similar, just didnt notice the CD or chipset.

Sorry for the stupidity but have had a **** week.

If anyone in the UK wants me to ask the shop any questions i can do this anytime as i only work 5 minutes walk away.

They did mention they were looking at sourcing ink from another supplier, (the people they get their cartridge ink from) in germany. The R800/1800 kit is £119.95 without ink.

Hi guys - I emailed them myself - apparently it is IR\'s CIS BUT with their own dye based ink!
