printer set up for Canon iR 3380

I just got my new iMac qith 10.6.2 and am having trouble getting set up to my offices network printer- Canon iR C3380. I am not the most knowlegable in how to set up a printer but here is what I have done.
I am connecting to our network through an Ethernet cable. I have downloaded the most recent cannon driver for the printer, then went to system preferences, IP tab, and Add a new printer. The information I have put in is...
Protocol: LPD
Address: used our printers IP address
Queue: nothing?
Name: same IP address
Location: nothing?
Printer Using: Select printer software Canon iR 3380, I have also tried just using the Generic PostScript Printer
When I try to print something, I end up getting about 25 blank pages and a few other pages of random text and numbers.
I don't know what I am doing wrong and am so frustrated that I can't print at work. Does anyone have an recommendations or can anyone let me know what I am doing wrong?

Reading your post, it sounds like you have done the correct printer queue setup. But since the 3380 is printing mostly blank sheets with the Canon PPD or Generic PostScript selected, this would be an indication that the printer does not have the PostScript license installed.
So, one suggestion would be to use an alternate driver, such as the UFR2. Most iR copiers support the UFR2 language as standard, while PCL and PS can be options.
You can download the UK English version of the latest UFR2 driver that will support your iRC3380 via this link.

The UK English driver can be used in the US region (I wasn't sure where you are located). The LTR and LGL sizes are still supported. I think the primary difference is the naming of the Canon devices.
Anyway, with this driver installed, you can add the printer queue again, just the same as you have done previously, but this time in the Print Using menu you need to select "Canon iR C Series UFR II (UK)".
