With this is display no functions are possible.  I had this thing in the shop a couple of years ago and, I believe, I just shorted the battery and cleared everything, but thought there must be a way thru the keyboard, where I might not have to dump everything.  I had the customer bring in the Op manual this time to see if I could figure it out, but I could not.  Any help?

I appreciate the reply.  I did finally remove the batteries and let it sit.  Cleared all.  Back to being a decent typewriter.  I will give the customer a copy of your reply, maybe that will save them down the road.

Als,
Try doing a total clear by holding down the correction key and keep it held down as you turn the power on.  Also remove your batteries for 24 hours and then try the "Total clear" with the batteries still out, then put the batteries back in once up.  All this time making sure that the hood switch is working properly!
