Oki C 5500 fuser reset

Anyone know how to or which connector has the fuse that
resets this printer. The service manual I have is useless and I
have taken the fuser apart but it was not quite apparent
where that fuse was and the value of it. I think it is the two
wires that run into the upper fuser roller or that could also be
a thermistor. The main thermistor has 4 leads going to it and
I don't really want to touch that but blah blah blah. Sooooo
anyone already who stuck their neck out and on this one and
survived let me know what you did. Please and thank you

I've replaced the small green pico fuse on the connector on quite a few C7300 fusers and have coaxed quite a few more prints out of it (maint contracts only)
Don't know if the C5500 is the same

Uh oh....  Are the forces of Good and Evil on the same side and coming together?

After you convince the printer that the fuser is new it is only going to work reliably in black and white and on plain paper because the heat roller that looks new isn't.  If, as you say, have been doing this for 40 years, you should already know that.

Desert Tech, Desert Tech, There was no jam in the fuser and my post says how do I reset the fuser not the printer. I believe the fuser is still very functional except for that damn fatal error code and it pisses me off to just replace parts that aren't necessary. I have been a tech for over 40 years and sometimes I just want to know why and how and not just replace the part. I know I can order the whole fuser unit and be done with it but I want to know how it is resettable. There is my tirade for the day. That felt kind of good!

{{ha ha}} anyone familiar with my posts knows I don't support parts swapping. But let's face facts, you asked for info on how to "reset the printer". Obviously it is calling for a new fuser, meaning the fuser has reached it's end of life. Which is probably why the paper is getting stuck in it.  Even if you somehow find a way to reset the unit, you will have other problems. If you're a tech, you're not doing your customer any favors. A color laser machine does not respond well to cutting corners. The fusers for Okis are not all that expensive. Probably no more than the value of labor you will invest in trying to replace the fuse. Tech skills are great but there are times when the best course is the obvious

Come on Desert Tech. It is not time for the fuser to
be changed. I had the thing apart and inspected and
it is in great condition. These things happed
sometimes because a paper gets wrapped around the
fuser roller. I could order the fuser but where is
the adventure in that. Is that all we are is parts
changers for the manufacturer?

You don't even have to do that if I remember right. I think I remember downloading a white sheet on doing that in the printer itself. Lemme look.

You could put a fuse on one of those leads and hope it don't blow up the machine, or..........
you can refrain from being cheap and just replace the fuser since it's due for one.
