I need the Hub Pulley Assemble part # 1132134, This is the big plastic/metal hub that the motor belt goes around inside the machine, not the small metal pulley at the motor. I possibly have one in a junker but had read on here that someone might have one already out or a new one or one that has been repaired? This customer started crying when I told her the part was no longer available and was very costly to replace. "It was my mother's machine and I want to use it to write about her" she said. I really want to help her out. For 30 + years I have worked on the Selectric. Not too many around any more still in regular use. I have a good selection of new Selectric parts if you need something. Thanks, Chris

Really isn't that time consuming. 10 minutes, put new cycle clutch spring to same position as old spring, don't move print shaft and reinstalling gear train with proper back lash. You shouldn't have to adjust anything providing it was adjusted properly before and reassembled the same.

I have worked on the IBM selectrics for a number of years, but I have not replaced a center hub. I have quite a few machines that has the hub cracked. I would like to know if anyone through trial and error has found a less time consuming way of doing this? Thanks Earl..

Yea those hub are all cracking-splitting due to age. You see alot of similar gears crack for the same reasons.
This was avalible for a while OEM & then some aftrmarkets were made, fairly sure you can't order these new. I have been fixing those hubs for 10+ yrs. Remove it from machine, if possable squeeze back together & melt metal reinforcements into the plastic accross the crack, if that is succesful then reinforce more with a good epoxy & might have to trim some platic away to get everything to fix back. this took lots of trial & error but now I have pefected this & Never had one Recrack.
Even the one's I salvage I reinforce BEFORE they crack, because they will sometime. I will look & see if I have one I would be willing to sell.
Hesitant to sell one of the reworked one, but if I have a salvaged (& reinforced ) one that might be different
