Driver installation failure 1700N

I have an installation failure with the Dell 1700N printer driver. Did a network install to several stations and only had one failure. That PC is a Dimension 8300, same as two others that got the install just fine, XP SP2 and I have domain admin privlidges to the PC. The net install failed and nor I can not even install the software from the local console the 'installgui.exe' keeps generating an error message. The net install did partially install the profiler but not the driver. Is there a manual procedure for flushing the broken install, registery edit, Dell super tool,etc.? There is no distinct difference between this machine and the others.Thanks,DanBNB

Yeah, I'm going to try the same thing, I was hoping that there was an registry clean up tool or at least some manual instructions for doing so. I suspect that there are many more suffering in silence out there with this same issue. I wish that when a company makes an install package that they would document how to pull it out manually in the event of failure, Symantec does this well, maybe Dell will see the wisdom in it for us tech types.

I have the same problem. I got the install on the CD to run the first time on one machine (dell laptop), all other machines. The program does launch, and you can run the network utilities, but when youinstall the drivers you get the windows error. (I tried this on 3 dells)
"InstallGui.exe has encountered a problem needs to close...."
Funny thing too, if you can't install the drivers, you can't access the users manual.
What I had to do was to use windows printer install (start/settings/printers/add new printer) and installed it as local printer, created a port to point to the printer IP, and pointed to the driver on the cd D:\Drivers\Print\Win_2kXP\DKAAP2DA.INF and it worked
I did not find anything about this in the Owners manual.
